Less suitable for smaller homes due to the requirement for a water cylinder and cold water tank in addition to the central heating boiler. Powered by two AA batteries, the smart thermostat can be freestanding on a table or shelf, or mounted on a wall. It has three touch controls on the front. The plus and minus button allow you to adjust the desired temperature of the room, while the middle button boosts the heating in said room by two degrees. The screen automatically goes to sleep after 15 seconds to conserve the battery, but pressing any of the three touch controls will wake it up. Requires a two-channel Wiser kit ( Wiser Thermostat Kit 2 or Wiser Multi-zone Kit 2), to control the central heating via one channel and hot water via the other. Custom Moments can be created, where you set the target temperature that you want. For example, you could set a holiday mode where the heating’s mostly off but give a boost at set times to warm it through.

If you start with this, you can put the TRVs into your most heavily used rooms for individual control, and the room thermostat elsewhere in the house to control everything else. A room thermostat controls the heating in your home. If the room's temperature drops below your chosen temperature, the thermostat will switch on. Once the room has reached the chosen temperature, the thermostat will turn the heating off, preventing overheating and reducing energy consumption. This can help reduce your home's energy consumption.

On the 2-channel programmer where you set your schedules, try setting the hot water side to off and the central heating side to on. If doing this automatically turns on the hot water side as well, this would indicate a gravity system.
