Each game has a slick and responsive front-end menu built on the Unity engine that's crammed with extras. also, since we are evaluating this collection in 2023 and 12 years have gone by since the original mgs hd collection on ps3, people have the right to be more critical of this package. Running at 4K with 16x anisotropic filtering completely fulfils the expectations I had of not just a PC release, but PS5 and Series X. Your impression of Anakin, the Jedi and the Force will not be the same as what we oldies had back in the day.

There's still nothing else quite like a Metal Gear Solid game out there, and dipping your toes into any one of them is enough to consider ignoring your current-gen backlog for a few playthroughs all over again. There's something to be said for having all these classics in one convenient package for today's consoles and PC. The trip down memory lane is a reminder of why the three titles are a lock in any top 50 list of the greatest games ever made, but the digital packaging that brings them back can leave much to be desired. Stick with it if the controls are off putting, there are gems hidden under those pixels and polygons. Both MGS2 and 3 run at the same fixed 720p resolution on PC, with no graphics menu to boost the resolution - though there are user workarounds. Darude84 The controls are more or less the same between all three MGS games, and they are definitely a bit outdated by today's standard. These drops are hard-baked design choices that carry over from the PS2 days, as Hideo Kojima appeared to use frame caps for dramatic effect.

Those who purchase Volume 1 will also have access to a variety of bonus content including the two regional versions of Metal Gear, the original version of Snake's Revenge, the first and second Digital Graphic Novels in video form, and a digital soundtrack. On Shield the game runs at 60fps, though this is aided of course by using a higher-clocked Tegra X1 than Switch's. Remarkably the older HD Collection from 2011 produces better visuals in MGS2 and 3 than the Master Collection versions. I'm glad to say this blur effect is at least removed for the Raiden section later on though, and in MGS3.What you're actually getting is five separate apps on the PS5 home screen rather than a single, comprehensive bundle. A more expansive remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is on its way, but for now we have the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, which makes the first three classics playable on modern hardware once more. This features a form of anti-aliasing in parts to reduce moire patterns, yet elements of the image are left untreated with a similar result to the AA-less Switch version. Still, the Master Collection marks the first-ever Trophy list for Metal Gear Solid, and earning a Platinum gong for such a coveted title is an offer most fans won't be able to refuse.
