Description

There is little psychological underpinning for the tips in this book, and aside from a bit of NLP, she doesn’t align her advice to any particular theory. I love her positive, can-do, forward thinking, planning attitude, and reading this really inspires me - reminds me that while mountains are hard to climb, they're not insurmountable and with every hill we overcome, we will be able to better tackle future hurdles and take on more challenges. Her book promises straight-talking worldly advice, which there is some, but about a third into it she switches to focusing on her story as she built up her business and the challenges she has faced along the way, and this is what makes up the last two thirds of the entire thing.

There’s tips on keeping a marriage together, tips on personal organisation and tips on managing tricky relationships – from toddlers to teens. She shares her journey in life an in business, and you really feel like you get to know her and what drives her. She really loves her children and a large part of her life is spent making sure how they are all safe, cared for and know that they are loved. I loved hearing her pearls of wisdom from a life well lived and what she's taken away as the most important things to enjoy, cherish and learn from.

The author wisely acknowledges her privilege in having had the funds and opportunity to set up her own business, as it really was built from scratch. She illuminates how creativity and communication are incredibly important in every business, what kind of person makes a good entrepreneur and the concept – triangle of pain.

I have underlined lots of quotes and highlighted some sections that I really liked and connected with.Read this if you want to be an entrepreneur or you’re a rich white woman who felt Covid was a positive experience and whose greatest challenge is struggling with guilt about au pairs. Anya talks about her journey as a businesswoman and a designer, her life experiences, she shares what she has learned and wants to pass on, from to-do lists to balancing work life and personal life, to telling you to just go for it.
