This is beautiful, starts with a very powerful blast of aldehydes similar to the original Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds.

It's a wonderful layering scent with oils or deeper woody/ambery roses, but there will always be those off putting notes. With the cinnamon and roses, this is a fairly elegant perfume - (although I could see wearing this as your signature if you are someone who likes that type of vibe). The scent is nothing like what they create nowadays, very old school and nostalgic, even for someone (me) that never lived in that age. My sister did not like it at all, in fact, she doesn't really go for powdery scents and told me she does not like any of Elizabeth Taylor's offerings.because behind it all there is such warmness from the spices, the ylang, the almond and the heliotrope. Update: So I actually threw this out last night but rescued it, resolving to use just a bit of it, Frankinsteined with a honey/rose, a bright rose, and an amber/spicy, to see if I could manage to come up with something I loved and that wouln't give me a headache and allergic reaction. Its interesting out of the fragrant jewels it seems there is always one that reviews mention they absolutely don't prefer. I don't feel nothing synthetic, harsh or out of place here and I'm not easy to please, especially with cheapie scents.

I don't know if it's benzoine or almond that gives the powdery dry down such a smooth creamy undertone. I’m in my Elizabeth Taylor era when it was the 60’s and she was wearing loud paisley caftans and had the most beautiful bronze tan you can imagine, second marriage to Richard Burton time. I love the cinnamon-y spices in this perfume and it would be ideal wearing for the festive seasons of the year when the air is crisp and fireplace smoke wafts through the cold air.The perfume will wrap itself around you and your family and friends will love getting warm hugs from you smelling of Diamonds and Rubies. I'm glad I own it, I have Black Pearls and WD Luster left to collect, and all her other scents I enjoy. I wish they did, because they are interesting, affordable, and the sprayers and bottles are so wonderful. I *do* find the edt stronger but I’m pretty sure it’s because it’s a spray, whereas the parfum is a dab. This floral – oriental fragrance, launched in 1993, was designed by the famous Russian Sophia Grojsman.

It is a good perfume, certainly smells like I spent more than I did, and it dries down to this lovely, peachy, powdery rose. The middle florals intertwined with a mix of spices and lingered for a good 30 minutes before the final drydown to the base which I find absolutely delightful.

Opens quite intense, filling the air with a trail of what others have described as "churchy", rich incensy and aromatic. I'm looking forward to spraying this on a willing tester, because honestly perfume does either work with or against our chemistry, and just like how food tastes, smell is also a preference.Someone mentioned Tresor (which I also love) and I will throw in Spellbound as perfumes that this is similar to. Diamonds and Rubies peripherally offers up the fruitier notes in sweet little sparkles that convey high quality. When I put this on for the first time I was playing Victor Young's Theme From A Place In The Sun which was the film Liz Taylor did with Montgomery Clift. This doesn't make me think of any age range, but if you think making any attempt at sophistication is only for the elderly, then yes, this may seem "old lady" to you. I would say that in second place to the rose the ylang ylang (which smells of banana) and the soapy white lilies are what I get most.
